On January 6, 1979, he married Kathy Jo Hohlmayer who survives.

He moved to Chocowinity in 2004 and in 2005 started teaching business classes and coaching the girls basketball team for Northside High School.

In 2006 he transferred to Southside High School where he taught business and coached the Lady Seahawks until retiring in 2015.

Survivors include two daughters, Patty Peebles and husband Bill of Washington, Janice La Barbera of Washington, three sons, Richard La Barbera and wife Susan of Wake Forest, Tom La Barbera and wife Mary of Washington, Mike La Barbera and wife Katy of Grimesland, eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. Henrietta Branton Lackland, age 83, a resident of 205 Ellison Drive, Washington, NC died Monday morning, July 9, 2007 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Mc Coy Lamb and one sister, Ruth Bennett Waynick. Lamm was born in Beaufort County on November 23, 1928. Thomp Litchfield, Sr., became owner and operator of the business where he remained until he decided to retire in the early 1970s. Lane had a great love for his family, life and people.

She was the daughter of Charles Fredrick Branton and Minnie Woolard Branton. On July 5, 1947, she married Sam Boushall Lackland who preceded her in death on January 17, 2002. Lackland was a homemaker and worked for several years in admissions at Beaufort County Hospital. Lahocki, Father Stephen Lahocki, and three brothers, Joe Lahocki, Charles Lahocki and George Lahocki.

She devoted her life to being a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Ketchum and Mary Broglin, both of Portsmouth; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren..
